On Exeter's streets, meeting people with global connections often brings out incredible stories of dedication and family bonds. In this feature, we speak with Andreas, who travels from St Lucia each month to visit his son in the UK.
For Andreas, feeling alive is centred entirely around family:
"Spending time with my son, I feel alive... finally getting time to spend with my son, that's what makes me feel alive. He lives here in the UK & I travel each month to visit him from St Lucia. Quite an undertaking, but love is expensive, right?"
Opening up about the immense challenges he has navigated over recent years, Andreas reflects on a trying two-year journey:
"I would say the biggest struggle has been being able to take on this endeavor for the last two years & court proceedings... mentally straining towards the end now. And I think more now than ever, nothing's impossible. The fact that I saw through it & never gave up, I could do anything."
Closing our conversation, Andreas shares a deeply inspiring message for the world:
"Do everything passionately, do everything with joy, don't rely on the past... don't let things control you. Focus on the ones you can deal with at the moment, just be better each day as each day progresses & you'll be amazing, guaranteed!"
