What Makes Boo Alive?

On Exeter's streets, catching up with familiar faces gives us a wonderful look at personal growth and ongoing creative journeys. We connected before, when I was just starting street portraits, long before the project. A year after our first encounter, I ask Boo the core question: What makes her feel alive?

For Boo, art remains their absolute core focus:

"Probably still art... My one & only passion... with many forms of it actually."

Detailing their specific creative pursuits, Boo highlights their favourite mediums and hobbies:

"Illustration & animation, which is pretty cool... but then I also do a hobby called cosplay, where you basically dress as characters from different shows and stuff."

Reflecting on how much they have grown and how stepping out of their comfort zone has helped them connect with people, Boo shares:

"I've definitely got more confident... Since accepting your portrait, I've definitely put myself out there a bit more & been like, oh my God, I can talk to people now without freezing up... Just being more social, which is pretty good. Loving life a bit more."

Closing our conversation, Boo shares an empowering message for anyone finding their footing:

"Just be you. Don't let other people bring you down... Just be yourself, live life how you want to at your own pace."
