What Makes Sammi Alive?

On the streets of Exeter, spontaneous conversations often remind us how grounding the outdoors can be and how deeply we grow through our connections with others. In this feature, we connect with Sammi to talk about nature, overcoming personal challenges, and what brings genuine vitality to her days.

For Sammi, feeling alive is rooted in the natural world and balanced social connection:

"I think being in nature. I love being in nature and also being around people but not too much... I love being in nature. Being in the forest, being by the sea, on the beach, all of that, I love it. I'm a nature girly."

Reflecting on the hurdles she has navigated and how she found her way through, Sammi highlights the lessons learned from difficult relationships and the power of inner work:

"I'd probably say relationships is a big one. You learn and grow a lot from difficult relationships. Ultimately you go through those things to make you a better person in the end... A lot of therapy and self-reflection. I mean just speaking to others as well that's been in similar positions and being around good people that understand and that you can relate with."

Closing our conversation, Sammi shares a warm and uplifting message for the world on the ripple effect of small acts of kindness:

"Just love people, try not to judge too much and just try to be kind to people, I think. Sometimes I will just go and say to someone like, oh your hair looks great, or just something simple and it you know, it might brighten someone's day, you don't know."
