What Makes Tommy Alive?

Amid the city's rush, every face carries a unique story of resilience and routine. In this feature, we sit down with Tommy on Exeter's streets to talk about daily purpose, professional transitions, and the strength it takes to face life's hardest moments.

For Tommy, vitality is rooted in consistency and the simple freedom of chasing what matters:

"Waking up every day, being able to do what I want to do... I just, I like getting up, being able to go do what I want to do, being with my dad & my family. I like getting up, being able to do what I do for a job & get paid for it."

Working within festival and nightclub security, Tommy embraces the demands of the nightlife and events industry:

"Security. I do festival security, I do nightclub security... I've been enjoying it. It's just long hours, long nights, but it's good fun."

Reflecting on personal hurdles, Tommy opens up about profound loss and the courage required to pivot into an industry he always wanted to be part of:

"Losing my mum, that was a big struggle & then just taking the step to do what I wanted to do instead of grafting... moving into an industry that something that I've always wanted to do, a big old step and that was hard, but I'm happy where I am now."

Closing our conversation, Tommy shares a direct, hard-earned message for anyone hesitating on their own path:

"Take that step. You never know until you find out. Might as well take the risk."
