What Makes Alice Alive?
On the city's busy streets, connecting with others often beats at the heart of everyday life. In this feature, we speak with Alice in Exeter about being an extrovert, navigating personal growth, and the importance of listening to those around us.
For Alice, vitality is rooted in community, socialising, and making a positive impact on others:
"Being around my friends, I'm very much an extrovert so I love to be around people, my friends & family & socializing... Also, helping people is a massive thing of what's been my life doing, so it's something that, yeah, really motivates me."
Reflecting on personal hurdles, Alice opens up about the hidden challenges of receiving an adult ADHD diagnosis and realising how differently her brain works:
"I've had a few struggles. Only as an adult got diagnosed with ADHD... That's something that I didn't really realise my whole life I had... not realising that your brain works differently at first can be a real struggle... and on the outside, everyone assumes that you're doing okay... I think that was the biggest struggle that I've overcome."
Closing our conversation, Alice shares a heartfelt message on compassion in a fast-paced world:
"I mean, everyone says it, don't they? But like, just be kind... so many people just want to offload to other people, and I think just listening to people, be kind to people... just listening to them & letting people just open up about themself can just help so much."
