What Makes Sarah Alive?

On Exeter's streets, spontaneous conversations often uncover powerful stories of personal growth, resilience, and a drive to help others. In this feature, we speak with Sarah about her journey and what gives her life a deep sense of meaning.

For Sarah, feeling alive is grounded in meaningful human connections and creative outlets:

"I guess just spending time with family, making friends... I like art a bit."

Opening up about the challenges she has faced, Sarah reflects on how stepping away from difficult relationships and utilising professional therapy helped change her outlook:

"Been through a lot, some pretty horrible relationships... decided to like cut those people out of my life, be around people that want to be around me as much as... I've been in therapy a lot, and those professionals help."

With a renewed perspective and an acceptance offer to study social work at university, Sarah looks forward to supporting others who have been through similar experiences:

"This time last year I didn't want to go to uni & now I've like accepted an offer & stuff... I want to do social work, like help other people because I've been through similar."

Closing our conversation, Sarah shares a powerful message for anyone facing hardships:

"Just keep going, don't give up."
